Gosport Road Runners invite you to take part in the 29th anniversary of our event. The race takes place on Sunday 16th November 2014 commencing at 10am. The venue is Bay House School, 18 Gomer Lane, Alverstoke, Gosport, Hampshire PO12 2QP. There is chip timing.
Race entries tend to be evenly split between Club and non Club Runners, so there is a good mix of abilities that ensures the race feels busy but rarely crowded. The winning man was Alex Wall-Clarke (Southampton Athletic Club) in a time of 1.07.20 and the winning lady was Sarah Hill (Farnham Runners) in a time of 1.19.23. The race is a venue for the Hampshire Road Race League and unfortunately is not suitable for wheelchair athletes.
Entries are up to about 1500 already and are likely to reach the race limit before the closing date of Nov7th.
Don't leave entering until the last minute to avoid disappointment!
The new Course has been completed. The route starts and finishes at Browndown Rd as before, then has two laps which go all the way along the Seafront at Lee-on-the-Solent.
The outward leg is mainly run on cycle-paths and pavement, the return leg goes along the Esplanade. The course is flat save for three short ramps along the Esplanade.
At the far end of the Seafront it may be necessary to join the carriageway for a short distance. Care should be taken whilst joining the carriageway.

We are making changes to the chip collection procedure. This year both running numbers AND chips will be collected on race day, we will be sending out race information by e-mail and not by post, race information will also be posted on this website. Additionally we hope to have a collection point for local runners on the Saturday before the race.
We still accept postal entries but please make sure you have included a valid e-mail address on the form. If you are unable to provide an e-mail address for future communication please enclose an A5 self-addressed envelope.
We still have a few 2013 T-shirts left which can be purchased from our sponsor Absolute Running
Closing date for postal and on-line entries is up to and including 7th November (unless race limit of 2000 is reached). Last year the entry list was closed earlier than published as maximum entries had been received. Children’s Fun Run
Whilst the main event is underway, a ‘Fun Run’ for children under 12 takes place commencing at 10.20am which covers an approximate distance of 1.2k. The event is off road commencing on a grassed area near to the seafront, through a park and finishing in the school grounds. If your child wants you to run with them, that is ok. No medal for parents! The entry cost is £2.00. Payment and registration for the Fun Run, has to be made on the day of the race.
The entry form can be downloaded here: Fun Run Entry Form
All finishers (adults and children) will receive a medal and Goodie Bag.
The use of MP3 Players and similar devices is not permitted whilst running.
In the event of severe weather or unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of the race organisers, we reserve the right to cancel the race. If this decision is made, no refund of race entry fee will be made, as most of the costs are incurred before the start of the race.
We really do appreciate runners giving a few minutes of their time after the race to send us their comments. It is invaluable information for the race committee. A good place to post a comment is on the Runner’s World website.
